I turned it on as much as I could, and bolted past the last aid station. A girl who had been in front of me for a while seemed like she wanted to hold me off, but I moved on past her and ended up passing quite a few people who were gassed in that last mile or so. I turned the corner toward downtown, and knew we were really close to the finish, so I ramped it up even more until it felt like I was sprinting to the finish. Finally, I turned the corner and saw the finish line, and pushed as hard as I could until I was across. There were volunteers handing out medals, water, bananas, tortillas, and pizza (which almost made me vomit on the spot), and in a daze I grabbed my finisher's medal and a banana and sat down to eat and find my girlfriend and friend, feeling pretty great about my effort. 7:29 (13), 6:33 (0. 1) Post-Race: After I grabbed my free beer from the Wolverine Brewing Tent (hell yes) and snapped a few pictures with my awesome medal (sorry for the shitty photo from the race website; I didn't think to take my own picture and I don't have the medal with me right now), we began the slow, cold walk back to the car, and I could feel my knee really start to give me hell.

My only real complain with the Rock N Roll organizers was that the corral organization was a bit chaotic but we didn't get stuck in a sluggish group. I know this isn't a super serious qualifying race or anything so as long as we can basically run the pace we wanted and have a good time I don't have too much to complain about. Plus there were a ton of perks as far as restaurant deals and free concerts! My main concern was with my legs though. By the time I got to Vegas I had graduated to a slow walk and my legs were feeling better by the hour with a lot of rest. But still, I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to run this at all. I figured at the worst I can give it a go and if it's not happening, well I've walked the entire Strip hammered before, right??? I did a bit of a shakedown run the night before the race (actually because we got lost trying to find this Kesha concert) and I can feel most of my old spring coming back. I think I'm a go for the half marathon! But can I hold up for 13 miles?
